DOUGLAS McGRATH still harbours a grudge against ex-American President BILL CLINTON - because he fell asleep during a screening of his film EMMA.

Clinton nodded off in his Presidential WHITE HOUSE home while being treated to a private screening of the JANE AUSTEN adaptation, which starred GWYNETH PALTROW in the title role - but claimed he was simply "resting his eyes".

After waking halfway through the film, Clinton was said to have grabbed the director's hand and whispered, "The language is so great, I have to shut my eyes and let the words wash over me."
