Welsh soprano CHARLOTTE CHURCH is taking karate lessons in a bid to lose weight.
The opera singer, 18, has finally quit smoking and has made a New Year's resolution to live in a healthier lifestyle.
Her mother MARIA says, "Charlotte only had a couple of resolutions - stop smoking and get fit.
"She has tried gyms but finds them boring. So now she has taken up karate and told me she really likes it - although she said it hurts like hell."
