MARIAH CAREY's comeback is complete after the pop superstar picked up Best Album and Best Single honours at the Soul Train Music Awards on Saturday (04MAR06). Fellow triple-Grammy Award winner JOHN LEGEND also picked up two awards, providing the ceremony's big shock by beating heavily-favoured R KELLY for Best Male Album with GET LIFTED. He also took home the Best Male Single honour for ORDINARY PEOPLE. It wasn't a great night for Kelly, who lost in all three of the categories he was nominated for. Other winners included KANYE WEST (Best R+B-Soul or Rap Music Video for GOLD DIGGER) and CHRIS BROWN, who claimed the award for Best New Rap Artist. Meanwhile, JAMIE FOXX capped an amazing 12 months, which began with a Best Actor Oscar, by picking up the Quincy Jones Lifetime Achievement Award. And the Quincy Jones Outstanding Career Achievement For Women went to R+B trio DESTINY'S CHILD, who also won the award for Best Group Single (CATER 2 U). Before the ceremony in Pasadena, California, blind soul star STEVIE WONDER was honoured with a bronze statue of himself. The awards show organisers also named the songwriting award in his honour. The first one was handed to R Kelly. A thrilled Wonder quipped, "I saw the sculpture and it looks really great." John Legend was also honoured with the Sammy Davis Jr Award for Entertainer of the Year.
