BERTRAND CANTAT - CANTAT MOVED TO FRENCH JAIL

French rock star BERTRAND CANTAT will return to France to complete his jail sentence for killing lover MARIE TRINTIGNANT.

The 41-year-old NOIR DESIR singer was sentenced to eight years in prison in May (04) for causing the actress's death during a violent argument in a Vilnius, Lithuania hotel room last year (03).

During the trial, the court heard that Cantat hit his lover four times.

Trintignant, daughter of French film star JEAN-LOUIS TRINTIGNANT, fell into a coma and died five days later.

Cantat's lawyer says, "French officials are coming next week to accompany Cantat back to France."

Despite rocker Cantat insisting the event was a tragic accident, plans to appeal against his sentence were dropped in June (04).
