British actor SIMON CALLOW insists starring in 1995 box office disaster ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS was worth the humiliation - as it gave him the chance to work with JIM CARREY.

The distinguished FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL star dismisses the snobbery of fellow actors who were shocked at Callow's enthusiasm to work with Carrey, as he believes the American star is as talented as the MARX BROTHERS.

He says, "It's not a very good film and it wasn't a great experience but I wasn't to know that.

"People ask: 'How could you possibly do a film with Jim Carrey?'

"But he has done brilliant things and is a fantastic performer. If the Marx Brothers asked you to do a film, you'd say yes."
