BONO - BONO: 'HELP AFRICA HELP ITSELF'

BONO has called on the developed world to trade with Africa and help the continent work its way out of poverty. The Irish rocker, speaking during a 10-day tour of Africa, claims that much aid given to the continent has "done more damage than good". He says, "The West really has to understand that Africans don't want aid, they need aid, and what Africa desires and what (it) deserves is trade as a route out of their present difficulties. "Africans may be more sick of AIDS, TB and malaria but they are plenty sick of aid."
