British movie beauty KATE BECKINSALE was terrified by the prospect of playing screen legend AVA GARDNER in new movie THE AVIATOR.

The PEARL HARBOR actress joins a star-studded cast including CATE BLANCHETT playing KATHERINE HEPBURN, JUDE LAW playing ERROL FLYNN and LEONARDO DiCAPRIO as HOWARD HUGHES, in the movie about the life of the Hollywood mogul and playboy tycoon.

And she admits it was tough taking on such a high profile part.

She says, "It was a little bit intimidating. On every page of the script she is described as the most beautiful woman in the world."
