AVRIL LAVIGNE - AVRIL: 'ASHLEE'S LIP-SYNCING NIGHTMARE WAS A WARNING'

AVRIL LAVIGNE has applauded ASHLEE SIMPSON for lip-syncing on live TV because she feels sure the embarrassing incident will make other artists think twice before miming.

The Canadian pop punk, who insists she always sings live, believes Simpson's lip-syncing nightmare last year (04) on US TV show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE was a warning to other pop prima-donnas who lack the talent to perform live.

She says, "It taught people a lesson. There are a lot of people out there who lip-sync.

"Personally, I think it is a disgrace to music because there are a lot of talented people who don't even get a chance, and then there are people at this top level who can't sing live."
