Hotly-tipped rock newcomers ARCTIC MONKEYS have revealed the inspiration behind the title of their debut album WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY I AM, THAT'S WHAT I'M NOT - veteran British actor ALBERT FINNEY.

The band, who recently scored a UK number one with I BET YOU LOOK GOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR, have dedicated a large portion of the disc's lyrics to Finney's classic movie SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING.

In the 1960 film, Finney's non-conformist character ARTHUR SEATON says, "Whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not because they don't know a bloody thing about me."

Frontman ALEX TURNER confirms, "Saturday Night And Sunday Morning is what the album is about.

"Songs including THE VIEW FROM THE AFTERNOON, DANCING SHOES, STILL TAKE YOU HOME and FROM THE RITZ TO THE RUBBLE all cover that bit of the weekend and feature the same character."
