British actor RALPH FIENNES has split from longterm love FRANCESCA ANNIS following reports he is romancing a Romanian singer.

THE LIBERTINE actress, 61, today (07FEB06) announced the end of their 10-year relationship and revealed plans to sue British newspaper The Daily Mail - who featured a story claiming she had forgiven THE CONSTANT GARDENER's reported infidelity.

CORNELIA CRISAN, 31, insists she has enjoyed a two-year romance with 43-year-old Fiennes.

A statement from the actress' solicitors reads, "Ms Annis confirms today that she and Ralph Fiennes are to separate."

Annis accuses The Daily Mail of defamation and invasion of privacy.
