Actress ANGELICA HUSTON was desperate to marry ex-lover JACK NICHOLSON at the beginning of their 17 year relationship.

But THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS star says the couple never wanted to get married at the same time.

Angelica, who split from the OSCAR-winner in 1989, says, "I did want to marry Jack, I suppose, early on. But when it doesn't happen you sort of continue living with someone and it doesn't matter as much.

"Throughout our time together, either he wanted to or I did. We never coincided."
