Travis have plenty to celebrate. In 1996, Independiente signed a young band from Glasgow called Travis on the strength of some demos and a limited edition single release on
the band’s own label. Eight years on and Travis have amassed four top 10 albums (including two number one albums), fifteen top 40 hits, three Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello, made headlining appearances at Glastonbury, Reading, T In The Park and
V Festivals, won numerous plaudits, triumphed over adversity in the wake of Neil Primrose’s near fatal accident and sold over 4 million albums in the UK.
And celebrating is just what Travis intend to do with the release of Travis: Singles, a collection of all their singles to date, plus an accompanying DVD, both set for release on November 1st.
Travis: Singles bookmarks the end of one era and the start of another for one of the UK’s most popular bands. It’s been a remarkable journey so far and one in which Travis have never lost touch with their audience. From the release of
debut single All I Want To Do Is Rock via top ten hits Why Does It Always Rain On Me?, Turn, Coming Around and Sing through to Re-Offender, the band have consistently engaged with their public and not surprisingly, are widely regarded as
Everyman’s band.
