Texan emo outfit, succinctly known as Trail of Dead, are back with a new single 'Relative Ways' on 9th September through Interscope. It's taken from the band's highly-acclaimed album 'Source Tags And Codes' and is backed with two new songs, 'A Blade Runner' and 'Intelligence', and a live version of 'Gargoyle Waiting' across the CD and vinyl formats. The video was conceived and directed by Trail of Dead themselves and was filmed in the Yucatan jungle. The band's Conrad Keely explains the inspiration behind the promo: "The Yucatan segment, inspired by Graham Hancock's novel 'Fingerprints of the Gods', seemed to me the most unlikely of all our ideas. That it happened at all is still a surprise to me. "We spent an entire day trudging deep into the heart of the Yucatan jungle, hauling a massive generator, lights and cameras, through muddy fords and at one point over a precarious rope bridge, through terrain replete with snakes, bats, tarantulas, iguana and scorpions. Our guides, native people who spoke Mayan, brought us to a temple near Uxmal which had only recently been cleared, and was untouched by researchers." Keely continued: "The video itself is an attempt by us to unravel the meaning of man's existence. Although we've answered many of these questions ourselves, it will be the audience's challenge to interpret them visually, if at all. We can say this much, however - that it involves no less than the fate of all humanity." |
