The Twang
Wide Awake
Single Review

Currently receiving much adulation in the press as a possible Next Big Thing, The Twang consists of five Birmingham lads with an apparent appreciation of the Madchester scene. If you want to see what all the fuss is about, they're currently on a sold-out tour, but have an April support slot with revivalists James and then headline again in May. No rest for the wicked.

The band's debut release, "Wide Awake" displays early on why comparisons to the likes of The Stone Roses have been made. The groovy rhythms and chiming guitars are familiar without plagiarising and Phil Etheridge is like a less powerful Liam Gallagher. It's a solid introduction to the band and certainly better than the average in what is becoming a stagnant indie scene, but The Twang will have to do more to become the success story of 2007.
