The Thrills release their
new single, Don't Steal Our Sun through Virgin Records on
November 24th 2003. It is taken from the band's critically
acclaimed platinum debut album, So Much For The City.
The last 12 months have been pretty action packed for The
Thrills. It all began in January when the band decamped to
LA to work with producer Tony Hoffer on their debut album.
In the two months it took to record the album there, the
band had dinner with Morrissey and bonded with Beck's dad.
With the hard work done, the hard work was about to begin.
The boys returned to London and started touring the country
incessantly, stopping off at the legendary Abbey Road for
a one-off gig- in between supporting The Rolling Stones at
their Astoria show in London. By the time the band had played
a blazing set at Glastonbury, everyone wanted to go back
to Big Sur, even if they'd never been before.
So Much For The City was released the Monday after Glastonbury.
With one of the most blinding summers in recent memory, the
album served as the perfect soundtrack with its sun drenched
harmonies and pop sensibilities. Its unique happiness saw
it win the hearts of The Mercury Music Prize nomination's
board, MTV2 (nominated for MTV2 Best New Band at EMA's) and
Q readers - who awarded the band the Best New Act accolade.
By October, So Much For The City had sold more than 300,000
copies in the UK.
The Thrills are currently touring the UK and recently played
two sold out nights at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire. In
October and November, the band will depart to the US to play
their first live dates, before returning to the UK to play
another sold out night at Shepherd's Bush on November 24th.
