2003 has been
a whirlwind year for the Rapture, alongside the highly
anticipated release of ‘Echoes’ (already heralded
as one of the album’s of the year and album of the
month/week in Jack, NME, Observer, Guardian, New, Boyz,
Xray, Jockeyslut, Arena), we have seen the band nominated
for ‘Best New Act’ at this years Q Awards,
seen the band carry-out two sell-out UK tours, headline
the “New stage” at T-In The Park, and put triumphant
performances at Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, Wittness and
Tribal Gathering. Not to mention their performance at Manumission
in Ibiza this summer, a support slot to Jane’s Addiction
for MTV2’s Birthday Party and triumphant shows across
Europe all summer.
What the papers say: "Echoes not only leaves the competition behind, it's
simply too good to ignore."- Sunday Times
"The Rapture will survive long after scensters abandon
their copies of No New York. 4/5"- Uncut
"Powered by a sense of genuine innovation: they genuinely
sound different, which is far more than you can say for most
dance music in 2003."- The Guardian
"An astonishing, challenging and original
debut." – Jack
"It's rare that a record so supremely fashionable should
have so much emotional substance up its torn sleeve. And
that is Echoes' ultimate triumph: to have set the scene in
2003, but to have set it with music that overflows with real
feeling."- Observer
"Find this place where dimrock/dance
tribalism is an irrelevance, and all that matters is edgy,
imaginative, emotionally
resonant music. 9/10"- NME
"One of those records that takes a life of its own,
defining a new movement."- Dazed
