The Rasmus took the UK by storm with
the release of ‘In The Shadows’. A monumental
single, it was A-listed by Radio 1, XFM, Virgin and Capital,
holding steady in the Top 3 of the UK Airplay Chart for over
a month. The video for the single hit the No.1 spot in the
TV Airplay Chart, featuring on heavy rotation on MTV main,
MTV2, MTV Hits, Emap’s The Hits, The Box, Scuzz, Flaunt,
amongst others, and remains in the No.1 this week on Kerrang
TV. The single was awarded SINGLE OF THE WEEK by no less
than five publications, and the band have already graced
the covers of Kerrang and Rocksound Magazines.
After upgrading to larger venues, their
four date UK tour at the end of April sold out in days, and
lead to the band confirming two consecutive shows on June
25th and 26th at the London Astoria, both of which also sold
out.
What seems like an overnight success has
taken years of graft on behalf of the foursome from Helsinki. ‘Dead
Letters’ is the band’s fifth album to date. Formed
in 1994, when the band were all 14 years old, their first
three albums firmly established them as one of the finest
young bands emerging from Finland. Their fourth album, ‘Into’,
released in 2001 when the band were still teenagers, was
their European breakthrough album. Both the release of ‘Into’ and
support slots on tour with the likes of Him, Red Hot Chilli
Peppers and Garbage was to pave the way for the band’s
masterstroke – ‘Dead Letters’.
The Rasmus are currently on a promotional
tour of Europe before returning to the UK on June 25th & 26th
to perform their two sold out nights at the London Astoria.
They are also confirmed to return to the UK in August to
perform on the main stage at the Reading/Leeds Festival.
