The Music's debut self titled album through Hut Recordings went into the UK charts at number 4 after only one week. Recorded at Jacobs Studio in Surrey and produced by Jim Abiss, who has also worked with the likes of DJ Shadow and Bjork, it features ten tracks including their recent single The People and re-recorded single Take The Long Road And Walk It which was released on August 19th 2002. Formed at school in Kippax, Leeds in 1999, the band released their limited edition debut single Take The Long Road And Walk It (a demo version they recorded in their rehearsal studio) through Fierce Panda in May of last year. A deal with Hut Recordings followed and in November of 2001 the band released their second single You Might As Well Try To Fuck Me EP. By the summer of 2001 the band had already embarked on a relentless round of touring. The last twelve months have seen them play with the likes of Oasis, New Order and The Charlatans as well as develop a fierce live reputation and loyal and dedicated live following. April of this year saw the band play their first sold out headline tour of the UK culminating in a euphoric show at Londons Astoria with the Doves. The band released their third single, The People EP following the tour on April 29th 2002; a single that would have made it into the top twenty if it was chart eligible. |
