Morrissey debating with Joel Pott, the true meaning of Athlete's song 'You Got The Style' vocal sound, is paraded with force and a bleak undercoat from Gregory Counsel. Tapping drumbeats and ambient humming back up the heart-wrenching cry that picks up pace to bounce passed the maudlin indie boundaries. This is achieved with no small amount of help from rhythmically striding guitars. 'Wood And Rain' complements this introduction to a hardworking Manchester band and it provides for a wistful and searching conclusion. This tempting two track foray looks into the world of reflective northerners, who pay astute attention to the song-building guidebook.
