If you're loving the retro vibe of Arctic Monkeys then this is another one for you, courtesy of upcoming Brighton four piece, The Kooks. Most distinctive is the vocal delivery which you might think is distinctive, or you might think is contrived. Borrowing heavily in terms of style from greats like The Cure and modern pretenders such as Franz, this kind of thing is so very much in vogue right now – but how much more of it we want, and how much more of it there's room for, is up for debate. Their forthcoming gigs with the impossibly brilliant Editors should expose them to plenty of new punters, whether they capitalise on that opportunity remains to be seen.
