Remix info:
Renowned for mashing the best bits of punk/funk/disco/electro/house into one side of vinyl, Chicken Lips add smacked out, creeping beauty to proceedings with their mix of No Wow. VV sounds like never before, all swagger, pout and a trail of devastation in her wake. The Lips' mix catches your eye, struts about enticingly, then slaps you in the face and gets in a cab. It's already rocking the terrace at Space - thanks to 2ManyDJ's – and proving to be a fixture in sets from Erol Alkan, Justin Robertson and Radioslave.
Jesse from Death From Above 1979 deconstructs the original of No Wow entirely, reproducing it in an outrageously addictive, put-it-straight-back-on-to-check-it-really-was-that-good MSTRKRFT remix. With the sheen of Richard X and the sex of, well, The Kills (who else), it will appeal to dirty disco heads, pop mavericks and pretty much anyone with any discernment whatsoever. Heavy, old school beats and a glammed-up VV vocal marry to perfection on what could just be one of the remixes of the year...
Raary Decihells from label mates Test Icicles delivers an electronic punk funk twister, a late 80s dancefloor vibe with a stomping beat and pulsing bassline.
Techno's favourite Canadian wunderkind Tiga grabs hold of No Wow's first single 'Good Ones' and takes it to new heights of steamy floor stomping and fringe tossing. The driving tempo is drenched in the fuzzy guitars and snarling duet of VV and Hotel's original, shoehorning what was a loose-limbed shaker into a more streamlined but no less potent club version. Oh, and the breakdown is a dead cert for pandemonium
