Inspired by one of Jamie’s journal entries, the song takes ‘love versus passion’ as its theme. As Jamie explains, “people talk about love being the most important thing in the world
but it’s kind of overrated. The more you love something, the more you hold it in front of you, the more nihilistic you become. But passion is something that drives you, it’s always there”.
On ‘Love Is A Deserter’, “a Moroder throb dovetails with jagged guitar chops” says Uncut, and unsurprisingly, the song has proved a highlight of The Kills current live set.
Having already completed one sell out UK tour this year - culminating in a packed out show at London’s Electric Ballroom - The Kills are back in May with another six shows including a date at
London’s Koko on May 11 th. Full list of dates as follows:
MAY 9 th, PORTSMOUTH, Wedgewood Rooms; 10 th, BRISTOL, Fleece & Firkin; 11 th, LONDON, Koko; 13 th, EDINBURGH, Liquid Rooms; 14 th, BIRMINGHAM, Academy 2; 15 th, NORTHAMPTON, Soundhaus.
Meanwhile, The Kills are back in the U.S for dates that include appearances at SxSW and Coachella. Last autumn’s series of U.S gigs resulted in outstanding reviews from the likes of Bob Hilburn, legendary
music critic for the LA Times.
