Stop And Remember is the latest single from The Immediate, due for release on July 31st.
With Conor O'Brien and Dave Hedderman providing vocals on their first release, it's Peter Toomey who steps up to the mic for this single, Stop And Remember. The track really befits from the connoisseur of the 60's pop oeuvre, Toomey lays on a mesmerising performance both on record and at their recent gigs, wrapping up the song in a tumultuous finale that sees him ploughing into the audience and bellowing into a sea of startled faces. The single includes a new song, "Babe Don't You Go" and a cover of The Zombies "Butchers Tale (Western Front 1914)"
As anyone who has ever seen an Immediate gig will testify, nothing at first is quite as it seems. In the blink of an eye, drummers become guitarists, guitarists become drummers, bassists become keyboard players, and singers – of which there are three – turn their hand to any one of these disciplines with impressive ease. If this band of four young musical obsessives were to have a manifesto it would be this; There are no rules.
This much was evident from their first release on Fantastic Plastic, the make our devils flow ep, featuring as it did four very diverse songs embracing all manner of musical styles. However, the over riding theme remains the same - an ambition to create something articulate and special. Comparisons to Radiohead, the Walker Brothers and Talking Heads aren't something critics bandy about lightly but here they are justified.
Citing influences as eclectic as The Velvet Underground, Love, Can and Serge Gainsbourg, The Immediate are steadily ploughing their own furrow, playing regular headlining dates in the native Dublin along with support slots with Magic Numbers, Flaming Lips, Guillemots and The Organ.
