June 27th

‘Looking very much like the future of girl groups.’

Having recently sparked the ‘girls and guitars’ debate in the media, The Faders return with their new single ‘Jump’ on 27 th June.

The next offering from the feisty threesome is another slice of poppy-punk-rock, with a 60’s edge. Produced by the Metrophonic production team - Mark Taylor and Jeff Taylor - and co-written by Molly, ‘Jump’ is the second single to be taken from their forthcoming debut album, to be released later in the year. Look out for the accompanying video which has been directed by Howard Greenhalgh (Placebo, Muse, Elton John and George Michael).

Having got off to a great start with their debut hit single ‘No Sleep Tonight’, Molly, Toy and Cherisse are still aware of the hurdles female groups can expect to face even in 2005. Toy, a graduate of the Brighton Institute of Modern Music explains, “I went out with a guy who was in a band. I said I wanted to be in it and they needed a bass player. They figured a bass only had four strings, so how wrong could I go ?” Cherisse, who drummed in a thrash metal band with the bassist from Satanists Venom, has also experienced some, erm, misunderstandings in the past. “I remember playing at an open air festival in Germany and one of the security guards wouldn’t let me on stage because he didn’t believe I was the drummer for the band!”

The Faders are hoping to make it easier for other young girls starting out and to change people’s perception of female bands. One thing is for sure, they have definitely helped put girls and guitars back on the music radar.
