Hot on the heels of the bands third long player 'Hey Trouble', The Concretes release their first single 'Oh Boy' July 2nd on Licking Fingers.
'Oh Boy' is trademark Concretes: accessible, delicate, joyous and continues the bands exuberant return to form. In fact, it encapsulates the gloriously upbeat head-rush pop that they caught you with the first time round. Only this time they're back with a stonger spirit, a sweeter melody and the most infectious chorus you'll hear all summer.
On the b-side 'The Sentence' is the first track and there's two new takes on 'kids' the title track from the bands limited edition single.
The first 'Ed's Kids' was recorded across the North Sea with Lisa Milberg and Ed Harcourt (piano and backing vocals) in London and the remainder of the band in Sweden. It's a celebration of discovering music and is delivered with both fragility and grace.
In stark contrast with 'Justin's Kids' Justin Robertson and Mark Ralph give The Concretes the full Balearic treatment with a inimitably individual remix that's sure to strike a light across the dance floor.
'Oh Boy' comes out on CD and as a download from 2nd July and a special Vinyl will be available later in the summer.
