The Bees
Wash
in the Rain
There is only one thing you need
to know about The Bees to gain a fair idea of this single:
they recorded it at the
Abbey Road Studios. OK, so it’s not quite a Beatles’ wannabe
record but my god it sounds so sixties – complete with
Hammond organ. There are more modern touches to it like the
guitar solo which is alright but can be overly reminiscent
of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s ‘Fever’ (now
there’s an irony). The Bee’s seem to cover a
wide range of musical styles and I think they could turn
out to be a very promising band. But this single doesn’t
show the full picture. Not what I’d call an outstanding
record, more inoffensive Topshop music.
