For people who
haven't Heard The Bandits music how would you describe your
sound?
Rock a Billy, I dunno really rock & roll with reggae,
funk, blue grass you know roots music really but with rock,
we just try and taken influences from all over the place and
we don't stick to one sound or one genre we try and include
as many as possible into one song. It's such a hard question
to answer because the way I see my music is as my music and
what is natural to us, it's just what comes out when we play
our instruments and we stick with what sounds good to us and
fortunately it sounds good to other people!
How do you take to other bands in today's
music scene?
Well we have liked all the old 60's Garage rock stuff for
a while, There is a band called The Bellrays who I haven't
heard any of their stuff but I have heard they are great and
im interested to hear what they are like, the Libertines aswell
we are going on tour with them and they seem alright they
are quite punky we have seen them live and we thought they
were good. The Coral are a brilliant band and the Zutons and
all these other bands that are about.
How did the your name the Bandits come
about?
It was actually Garys nan who used to live around the corner
from Peter Beardsley the old Liverpool and Everton player
and Gary used to carry around a little toy Smith & Westen
and Peter used to call him the Bandit and when he told us
this story the name just seemed to fit and because we were
all Liverpool or Everton supporters we were all happy with
the name. I think it brings a lot of imagery to your head
when you hear the name.
Do you have anything to do with your
website?
Well I personally don't but Scott who plays bass does, he's
completely immersed in it, he takes care of the website with
another guy who works on the technical side of it but we all
put our ideas up on there, Swee our drummer is going to write
us all our own story and they are going to go up, we're also
going to put up some live rehearsal sessions on there. We
are really into the idea of websites, Scott is working on
it constantly sorting things out getting photos just keeping
it up to date, give people some fresh and new content and
that is what we also try and do with our music.
What other bands are you listening to
at the moment?
Well last time we had the cd player on we were listening to
Bob Marley, The Birds & Doctor John and also the Rolling
Stones, let it bleed the album with you can't always get what
you want on it.
If someone could walk on stage with you
tonight who would you like it to be?
I dunno? For me it would probably be Bob Marley, Captain Beefheart
would be lovely Keith Moon but he has been decomposing for
quite awhile so he might smell.
When people come and see you live what
can they expect?
A lot of energy, raucous energy and good songs Garys fine
collection of hats is always there for people to see, they
keep on getting robbed off him at the end of the night so
he has been wearing mine but we are gonna have to buy him
a nice trilby or something so mine doesn't get nicked!
What are your ultimate goals in music?
Just to keep making music that is refreshing and a little
but new yet song full and tuneful. We want to make as many
albums as possible, We are actually in the in the process
of making it, hopefully it should be ready in the New Year
but won't be released until spring.
We have an area on out website
for unsigned musicians what advise would you give them?
Give up your day jobs go on the dole and work at it day and
night and smoke Da Weed!
