Texas return with a storming new single, "Getaway", on August 1st. This marks the first music to be released from "Red Book", the new album scheduled to follow on October 31st.

"Black Eyed Boy", "Summer Son", "Inner Smile", "Halo", "I Don't Want A Lover"... Texas have now established a lineage of classic upbeat, radio-slaying pop singles. "Getaway" is a record to rank in this class, an urgent feisty shout from Sharleen Spiteri over a three-minute rollercoaster of pianos, guitars and electronics. 

Lyrically the song is the kind of bullish, bruised outpouring of emotion that signals a classic Spiteri pop record. It's a fair bet that ladies up and down the land will relate to both the indomitable 'fuck you' spirit and aching melody here. "The ring you were holding has hit the floor and I can't live in this house with you no more"... like we said classic Spiteri, classic Texas. 

The single comes with a video that enlisted the services of the acclaimed DP Christopher Doyle, the man behind the movie "Hero" as well as "Chung King Express" and a host of Wong Kar Wai cinema greats. The whole package signals that Texas are back for 2005 with a real bang, Sharleen Spiteri, as ever, boldly leading the charge.
