Identical twin sisters Tegan and Sara will release the first track of their imminent album 'The Con' as a single on February 25th on Vapor Records / Sire. The Con will initially be available as a digital download from January 14th 2008.

Produced by Death Cab For Cutie guitarist Chris Walla with Tegan and Sara, 'The Con' is perfect power-pop - punchy, insistent and hook-laden. The track features Walla's Death Cab For Cutie compatriot Jason McGerr on drums, while AFI's Hunter Burgan contributes bass.

The album, their first for Warners, finds the twins on captivating form throughout a set that focuses on angsty, literate lyrics married to infectious new wave pop. Highlights include the album's opening track 'I Was Married', the addictive hook of 'Back In Your Head' and the pure melody of 'Hop A Plane'. Matt Sharp, of The Rentals and formerly of Weezer, also plays on the album.
