Born in 1975 in Flatbush, Brooklyn, Talib Kweli Greene is the eldest of two sons. He was an avid reader and gifted writer. Befitting, since his name, Talib Kweli, in Arabic means student of truth.
In 1998 Kweli teamed up with fellow emcee Mos Def to record and release Mos Def And Talib Kweli Are Black Star (1998). The Black Star collaboration was heralded by hip hop lovers and artists alike as one of the best albums of the decade.
Kweli's maturity as an artist is evident as Quality delves into an even greater variety of subject matters, with a skillful infusion of braggadocio as one of the industry's leading emcees: Flippant at every turn, he knocks heads over again and again on "Shock Body" where he states

Hey Talib the latest album; ear drum is bananas! Just wanted to speak on the
religious cut you had on that joint...about the Lord is my sheperd but that
don't make me a sheep comment. Actually the reference of sheep in this context
refers to the characteristics of sheep. They wonder aimlessly without purpose
and unconsiously into danger. The danger being the devil's traps that he has
set for us. Jesus Christ; our savior is the only one who cared enough to
sacrific himself for us which is evident enough that he will guide and protect
us through danger. How do we know that Chist is our savior? Well there are
trully devoted people who have found God and when you find God he will
communicate to you through dreams and visions. I myself have experienced this
and know someone personally that he talks through about me. The connection
with God that I think we are all trying to acheive first begin with humbling
self and recognizing that man doesn't know anything and is not capable of
rightous decisions without GOD. I hope this reaches you and you have time to
respond I would be glad to explain more in detail. That goes for anyone who
would like to discuss this.
