Fresh off the back of Simple Kid's stunning & vastly overlooked second album '2' comes the double release 'The Ballad Of Elton John/Serotonin'.
'The Ballad Of Elton John' is a colourful country pop number with banjo. A tribute to the overweight, flower bearing, agonising pop meister, I seriously doubt. Instead, this is a rant at celebrity lifestyle. 'Serotonin' is undoubtedly the highlight of the Irish man's second album, so it comes as no surprise to see this one getting the single treatment. Growing in intensity, 'Serotonin' features slick trip-hop beats, a howling soundscape and warped strings matched by the relentlessly sing-along verses & choruses. No doubt one of the top 5 singles of 2006 in my mind. An essential purchase.
