Fresh from the critical and commercial success
of their 'Shake UR Body' and 'Don't Wanna Know' singles and
'Set It Off' album, the dynamic duo of Shy FX & T-Power
unleash another classic party anthem on an unsuspecting but
adoring public. Kele Le Roc (of solo and Basement Jaxx's 'Romeo'
fame) takes the vocal on a bass-heavy hyperkinetic cut concerning
itself with the tricky politics of dancefloor etiquette, offering
a polite letdown to wannabe casanovas ("I'm just having
fun, but I ain't feelin' u.") and sporting a fine video
shot in Cuba.
Shy FX & T-Power have been key players
in the UK's jungle/drum 'n' bass scene since the early '90s.
Shy FX (aka Andre Williams)'s first major single, 'Original
Nuttah' became an early drum 'n' bass hit. T-Power (aka Marc
Royal) began recording as part of the Bass Selective crew
at the point where hardcore techno began mutating into jungle.
His classic single 'Horny Mutant Jazz' combined fluttering
breakbeat grooves with languid jazz licks. The pair first
met when both were recording for pioneering early jungle /
drum & bass label S.O.U.R. (Sound Of The Underground)
Records. When Marc moved into Shy FX's East London studio
they soon found themselves working together and enlisting
some serious vocal talent for their joint project. 'Feelin
U' is a prime example of this approach, ruff enough to please
the most discerning bass-head yet catchy enough to appeal
to the singles-buying public.
Having made an indelible
impression on both the drum 'n' bass scene and the broader
public consciousness, Shy FX & T-Power are all set to
further consolidate their position as breakbeat messiahs,
dancefloor demigods - and chart assassins.
