the verge of widespread public recognition. He toured the UK extensively on two sold out UK tours, the first with his mother and aunt, acclaimed folk singers Kate and Anna McGarrigle and sister
Martha Wainwright and then with his own amazing band.
The new album truly is a musical tour de force and the perfect articulation of the qualities that define Rufus as an original musician and songwriter. Literate, impassioned, ceaselessly creative and innovative,
'Want Two', is another masterclass in classic songwriting.
More immediate and more adventurous in terms of genre than 'Want One', 'Want Two' is arguably his most accessible work to date. A number of the songs on the album were recorded as part of the original, 'Want
One' sessions, however, the new album has its own very definite character. A few of the many highlights include the download only single, 'The One You Love' on February 28th with its breezy, mesmerising chorus, the evocative 'Hometown Waltz', as
well as the anthemic, 'Gay Messiah'. Other stand out tracks include the luminously beautiful and orchestral, 'Little Sister', the haunting 'Memphis Skyline' written about Jeff Buckley and the ambitious and original, 'Old Whore's Diet'.
'Want Two' is released with a bonus DVD, 'Rufus Wainwright Live At The Fillmore', featuring an unforgettable live performance and special behind the scenes footage. Live stand out tracks include, 'Beautiful
Child', 'Natasha', ''Dinner At Eight', 'Matinee Idol' and 'Oh What A World'.
Rufus has a small role as a musician in the new Martin Scorcese film, 'The Aviator' and can also be seen in the forthcoming Merchant Ivory movie, 'The Heights'.
