5. Capitol K “City/Soundwaves” (12" - XL Recordings)
If you want to hear what new music is about get your lugholes round this lot. Capitol K must have been living in a musical void for the last ten years. They have somehow escaped being led by any specific musical style. “The excellent “Soundwaves” is a haphazard and nonsensical phantasmagoria of sordid beats and steaming electric guitars glued together in a similar fashion to the Beatles in their hallucinatory “Strawberry fields” days.
“City” lends it’s talents in another vein altogether, crossing eighties student indie with an edge of seventies rock – unclassifiable, extreme and jolly good.
