1. Aim “Getting It On” (Grand Central) (12" - (Grand Central))
Aim’s album “Satellites and Constellations” was released in 2000 and was, musically, the furthest Grand Central have moved from their hip-hop, beats and retro roots. “Getting It on”, the second single to be released from the album, is ultimately a soul and jazz groover featuring the feminine vocals of Azeem.
It’s a bit of a well-timed summer release that may not please the Central’s hard core hip-hop followers but should keep the pop people happy. For more danceable action head straight for “Thanks for the Break”, an eighties be-bop extravaganza.
