| 4. Spiller “Cry Baby” (12" - Positiva) |
| While Sophie Ellis Bextor moves on from the phenomenal success of “Groovejet” and makes a damn fine job of making exceedingly bad records, Spiller proves that there’s more to him than simply one hit record. We may have been waiting a while for his follow up but you know what they say about “good things” and “those who wait” – “Cry Baby” is no exception. Oozing the same distinctive brand of funk induced house, Spiller creates yet another dancefloor destroyer but without the Bextor vocals hogging the limelight. The lack of a sing-along chorus means the chart success may not be as immense but the quality is there nevertheless. Band of the moment – and indeed the future – Royksopp, provide a top class remix too, adding more sentimentality and swirls. |
