1. Susumu Yokota & Rothko “Waters Edge EP” (12" - Lo Recordings)
For admirers of the recent influx of over marketed chill-out albums it is now time to delve a little deeper and to maybe think again.
Japanese producer Susumu Yokota, renowned for his effervescent and airy chillout music on albums such as “Grinning Cat” comes together with the equally ornamental and laidback Rothko. The result is an ep that takes chillout to another dimension. It’s like comparing yoga to a session down the Gym, or an hour of mediation as opposed to the same time in front of the TV.
Fragile and beautiful, it’s ethereal glaze will have your pulse lowered before you know it.
