| 6. Mr Dan “Settle Down” (12" - (Virgin)) |
| If you’re an eager student of the Morcheeba school of thought you’ll be a fan of Mr Dan’s new single. “Settle Down” is a wishy-washy, cheeky pop number featuring the pre-pubescent, crystal-clear vocal of Harriet Scott. It’s a tad removed from Mr Dan’s usual montage of hip-hop beats and maybe just a touch to shiny, but as the first single to be released from his new album “How Things Work”, it’s a good proposition for getting his music heard by a wider audience. The Rugged Mix gives us more of the traditional Mr Dan beats, and the winning Danmass Mix takes the track onto a different level altogether with plump beats and rolling synths. Very good. |
