2. Daft Punk “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger – Pete Heller Mix” (12" - Virgin)
Spoiling us, yet again, with their fearless electronic game plan are the mighty Daft Punk. In its original form, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” has long since passed the DJ road test - and with flying colours. It’s been creating mayhem on most dancefloors as well as making great headway in the charts.
The Heller mixes, a triumph in their own right as it’s not often Daft Punk lend out their music for remix purposes, cover two angles. The “Deeper Dub” really pulls back on the impact, removing all the standout vocals of the original, and all in all not making for a very interesting track. The “Stylus Mix” gets in with the action and brings the whole thing back on to the dance floor with some mad techno noises.
Nevertheless, it’s still the original that dominates.
