| Mancunian sample scavenger and self confessed film buff King of Woolworths returns with a new EP. A fascination with phone noises, the Oxfordshire countryside and mellotrons has brought the King aka Jon Brooks to the four musical conclusions we find on this ep. He’s had a hard act to follow after the applauded release of his debut album "Ming Star", but it looks like the challenge hasn’t thrown him. Moving between moody melancholia, to Art of Noise influenced electronica, to comforting musical lullabies he creates a fluid picture of hopes and heartaches. Getting better by the minute. |
