| 8. Goldfrapp “Utopia – Genetically Enriched” (12" - (Mute) ) |
| Goldfrapp are bound to receive some attention for this, the next single to be released from their monumental album “Felt Mountain”. The “Genetically Enriched” versions on this release are provided by Tom Middleton, Jori Hilkonnen and Tim Wright. All approach things from a dance angle with Middleton going dark, offsetting minimal crisp beats against chimes and seldom vocals, Finnish producer Hilkonnen spaces things out with some “cool as” techno twists and Tim Wright executes the most up tempo version. For my money, it’s still the original that takes first prize but these versions do a good job of bringing Goldfrapp to the attention of an unacquainted dance audience. |
