| 8.Cut Copy “Rendevous EP” (12" - Rex Records & Modular) |
| It’s no surprise that Cut Copy are from the same stock as Aussie experimentalist’s, The Avalanches. The EP’s opening rack, “Live”, is worryingly similar to The Avalanches “A Different Feeling “, It’s got the disco sparkle; the uplifting piano; the heart warming synths. But, fortunately for them, the similarities end there. Two further tracks take in completely different sounds; “Rendevous” is a little bit eighties Furniture and a little bit Depeche Mode, whilst, “I Was Young And I Needed The Money”, is a down-tempo hip-hop/jazz cross-over with a mean Red Snapper style bassline. Exciting stuff indeed. |
