| 7. Macy Gray feat. Erykah Badu “Sweet Baby” (12" - Epic) |
| The first single to be taken from her new album “The Id”, “Sweet Baby” is yet another unmistakable soul induced Macy tune with a vocal as distinct and cool as ever. Unfortunately the addition of Miss Badu isn’t prominent enough to warrant too much excitation. She can only just about be heard in the backing chorus – a chorus that, by the way, sounds suspiciously like Lou Reed’s infamous “Walk On The Wildside”. As a song “Sweet Baby” is pleasant enough, sounding perhaps just that little bit too similar to her previous singles and leading to the argument that her choice of songs aren’t making the most of her enormous vocal talent. |
