On April 24th Ralfe Band's new single 'Women of Japan' was released it's an alt-folk surrealist romance that evokes the freeform storytelling of Bob Dylan and Syd Barrett. Women of Japan is the third single to be taken from Ralfe Band's critically acclaimed debut album Swords, following the releases of Albatross Waltz and Fifteen Hundred Years last year.

The song is accompanied by a stunningly imaginative animated video which is based on drawings by the band's singer and songwriter, Oly Ralfe. This captivating animated adventure has been selected for screening at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas this March; one of only 20 music videos chosen from a record number of entries. Ralfe Band are travelling to Texas to play in the parallel music festival at SXSW, but for those who can't make the trip with them, the video is included on the Women of Japan enhanced CD single.

Ralfe Band were special guests for The Mighty Boosh at all five of their live London shows in March and April. Keen-eyed TV viewers would have spotted Ralfe Band members Oly, Andrew Mitchell and John Greswell as fisherman musicians in Series 2 of The Mighty Boosh (episode 5, The Legend Of Old Gregg). Oly also made a cameo appearance as the long-armed boxer in the comedy duo's first series.

Ralfe Band's live shows have built a very strong and loyal following, with the two London shows in February being packed to the rafters. Last year, Ralfe Band embarked on their UK headline tour in November, supported Emiliana Torrini on her sold-out tour of the UK and Ireland, and played Glastonbury Festival twice (Acoustic Stage and The Guardian Lounge), Truck Festival, Oxford Folk Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival. Ralfe Band have also been seen supporting Sons and Daughters, Seth Lakeman, Malcolm Middleton, Sophie Solomon and South San Gabriel.
