Queen Adreena - Live At The ICA (out now on One Little Indian) Album Review

Queen Adreena - Live At The ICA (out now on One Little Indian)

Queen Adreena
Live At The ICA
(out now on One Little Indian)

The rugged intensity that is now infamous between the two main protagonists of this outfit; Katie Jane Garside and Crispin Gray loses for being squeezed into a CD recording. The howling and thumping opener 'Medicine Jar', has a post grunge feel peering out of the scorching 70s rock riffs in a live setting. Vocalist Katie Jane does little by way of crowd interaction, but they are not that sort of band, you can tell that they are just in the zone.

The piercing nature of Katie Jane's vocals hit a high point in 'Fuck Me Doll' and 'Pretty Like Drugs', being helped a long by bolting bass lines, thrusting guitars and thumping percussion. Fourteen songs leave you feeling released and refreshed; as you get the impression that there is not a live band live Queen Adreena out there today.

Rating 9/10
