Because I Want You
Single Review
Placebo are one of those bands whose early success continues to dog their career. Pearl Jam never surpassed Ten, Feeder have never come close to Polythene and Placebo, like it or not, had their finest hour with Nancy Boy and their first, self titled album. This is a good single. All the Placebo hallmarks are there – the perfect pop chorus, the distinctive vocal, the lot. But do you really need it in your collection? Not really. It's just more of the same. And not even close to Nancy Boy….

even placebo doesn´t have a new single in latin america i had the chance to
listen the new single because i want you and i really like it it's different,
is not like nancy boy the bitter end taste in men or any old song it's
something new and what's really great about this band is that their music their
albums each have therir own identidy so how can someone expect that the new
singe be just like an old single such as nancy boy.
About the question ¿Do you really need it in your collection? i'll say yes you
do couse you need something different and exiting, music that would make you
feel better.
This review sounds a little unenlightened. Whilst I can agree that Because I
Want You is definitely not one of Placebo's stronger singles, I think it is a
mistake to define the band by Nancy Boy.
The band is maturing musically and it's showing through their music, I think it
would be a mistake for them to try and mimic their music from ten years ago.
At the end of the day, no it wasn't the best choice as a single, but if their
international single, Song To Say Goodbye, is anything to go by but I think in
the bigger scheme of things it will fit nicely in an album setting.
