The Modfather Paul Weller has gone back to his Northern Soul roots in some style on the forthcoming single, 'Are You Trying To Be Lonely?' recorded with artist Andy Lewis and released on the Acid Jazz label.

The collaboration came about after Weller, an admirer of Andy Lewis' work, was handed some demos by Lewis at a gig. Weller was so impressed by the material that just two weeks later they were in the studio along with Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock (unusually on drums rather than his trademark guitar) and a host of other Weller collaborators. The song was written by Lewis and Weller together with Paul handling the soulful lead vocal.

Lewis came to prominence initially as one of the main dj's behind the early Britpop explosion. His CV includes a residency at Camden's infamous Blow Up as well as a stint as Blur's tour dj before going on to make his own music as a bass player (in Pimlico and Spearmint) and then as a producer and artist in his own right.

'Are You Trying To Be Lonely?' is available on CD, 7inch vinyl & download, from 10th September on Acid Jazz and is taken from Andy Lewis' new album, 'You Should Be Hearing Something Now', due for release in October 2007.
