Noah and The Whale create the kind of pure, beautiful and inspired songs that soundtrack your dreams. Taking folk - in its broadest sense - as a starting point, and then running off in a hundred playful directions, this young, London based four piece are effervescing with ideas and ambition, something that one listen to their sunshine drenched debut 'Five Years Time / Jocasta' - released on September 24th 2007 - makes abundantly clear.

Embracing all manner of instrumentation - fiddle, ukulele and harmonium all make regular appearances - and driving things forward with an irrepressible energy, it's easy to see why Charlie describes their sound as "punk folk - well that's what I'd like us to be anyway." Lyrically Charlie doesn't shy away from the big issues - "pretty much all my lyrics are about love, death or time in some shape or form."

When a band has something this good going on, it's natural for others to be drawn into their vortex. Regular Noah & The Whale collaborators include Emmy The Great (who supplies backing vocals on 'Five Years Time') and the hotly tipped Laura Marling (Charlie returned the favour by producing her recent EP) . Never slow to pick up on a good thing, London based indie Young & Lost Club have signed the band for this debut 7" release.
