Musiq Soulchild returns with a new label and a bit of a different sound for one of the dons of neo-soul. Using a sample from an 80's soul dance joint called "Heartbeat" he delivers arguably his most accessible piece of work (for outside of North America) to date with this mid-beat monster called "Buddy". If someone had said to me Musiq is gonna sample "Heartbeat" before I heard it I probably would have said I don't fancy that but hey it works and more to the point it works well and although it is accessible it still has enough edge to keep the real heads happy.
