If punk becomes anymore sugar coated,
then its rotten stench will start attracting culture vultures
like pop idol contestants who scour around for what is
popular and devour it mercilessly. Thanks to Sugarcult,
Avril Lavigne All American Rejects and admittedly to a
lesser extent Motion City Soundtrack, who produce forced
and whining lyrics coupled with soft and sappy guitars
are a bigger insult to Joe Strummer than if they were to
piss on his grave whilstsinging a collective version of ‘Skater
Boy’. Never mind the future; it is what’s going
on now that is quite freaky.
